The Citizens For Towns (CFT) project was submitted by four cities to the European Union's Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV), and was funded by an international consortium led by Gyöngyös City Development non-profit Ltd. with a total of 210 480 EUR. In addition to the Municipality of Gyöngyös, the consortium includes the Municipality of Lucenec (Slovakia), the Municipality of Lodygowice (Poland) and the Municipality of Targu Secuiesc, with the Municipality of Lendava (Slovenia) and the Municipality of Sanok (Poland) as follower cities.
The aim of the project is to promote EU values, to get to know each other better, to build new economic and social relations and to submit further joint applications. 8 municipal and 4 on-line events will be organised. The main focus of the call for proposals is on civil society organisations in the cities, with the aim of creating new partnerships and joint projects based on European values. The series of events will start on 27 July 2024 in Losonc, Slovakia, where the consortium partners will meet at the International Nógrád Festival.
